On behalf of the
staff of Radio Somaliland and the peace loving people of Somaliland
every where expressed our grief and sadness again at the murder of
British couple Richard and Enid Eyeington in Somaliland, sorrow and
devastation withstand among SOS Children's Village staff worldwide -
in particular among the teachers and students at the SOS Secondary
School in Sheikh. The couple were found dead at their home in the
school compound. They had been shot by unknown gunmen.
We condemn this heinous and cowardly act with the strongest words.
Our sympathies are with the two children and grandchildren, which
Richard and Enid have left behind. In addition, we send our
condolences to the staff of SOS Children’s Village, the
organisation for which Richard and Enid worked, and the British
public, in general. We also urge the government of Somaliland to act
swiftly and precisely to bring the culprits to a justice.
Richard and Enid Eyeington, 62 and 61, had retired from teaching
after working in Swaziland for 32 years, but moved to the Republic
of Somaliland a year ago, fearing that plans to reopen a secondary
school would otherwise be abandoned.
May God have mercy on your souls and reward you for the good deeds
you have done.
Ameen
In sympathy,
